We believe in supporting other local businesses and vendors at the Firefly. Here are some of our vendors that we use. We take pride in knowing that our revenue goes to support our local economy
Family Tyme Creamery
Family Tyme Creamery, in Williamsburg Indiana, is committed to providing unique A2 A2 dairy products. They source their milk from their local family operated dairy farms in Wayne Co, Indiana. Good old fashioned cream line milk is gently pasteurized over low heat to preserve valuable nutrients. By not homogenizing it allows better conversion to your body. We also get all of our eggs from Family Tyme, who partner with local area farmers to support locally sourced eggs.
The story of our relationship with Dennis and Kristen Wood would be best told in person by Paul Demaree. If you see him a the Firefly, ask him to tell you about it. But to summarize, Paul began sourcing meat from Woodfarms after he had landed on his particular style of curing and smoking our ham, bacon and pastrami. Our in house cured bacon is a homage to the English style of bacon. Those who have had a true English fry up breakfast will recognize this style of bacon. We butcher and grind the pork and put our own spices for our style of homemade sausage. We cure and smoke our ham and pastrami in house. We are proud to be part of locally produced meat, right here in Fort Wayne. When you enjoy your breakfast sandwich, know that you are supporting a local economy with the partnership that we have with Woodfarms Premium Meats!
Old Hatch Roastery in Celina, Ohio
Jeff Hazel, also the mayor of Celina, Ohio, is an artisan small batch roaster who worked closely with Cyndi when Crazy Sisters Roasters closed a few years ago. When Firefly opened 25 years ago, we created a custom blend roast with Silver Canyon Roasters in Boulder, Colorado. This roast ventured towards a medium dark, slightly lighter roast than traditional espresso roasts. We wanted a rich, full bodied, sparkly and sweet espresso as the base for our signature style drinks. However, as the years went by, Cyndi really believed in supporting a local roaster. She was thrilled to work with Crazy Sisters who built a similar blend to what we developed with Silver Canyon. Jeff has more than excelled in carrying on the Firefly’s signature style, as well as partnering with us to bring in a vibrant collection of varietals and other wonderful blends. Jeff and his wife Patty own and operate the Hazelnut Coffee House in Celina, Ohio.
Dirt Wain
If you look closely, you will see the green Dirt Wain bins around the Firefly. Rest assured that the coffee grounds from your espresso will be going to feed someone’s garden in the near future! We make all of our food in house from scratch, and we compost everything. We are very glad to partner with Dirt Wain to support sustainable living in Fort Wayne.
